AVG9.0 Email server- overzealous phishing filter

Postby CBR95403 » Thu Jan 07, 2010 4:48 pm

I have contacted tech support on this, but was hoping that maybe someone here could help. The anti-spam component is producing a high level of false positives in specifying email as Phishing. When the scanning tags an email as Phishing it ignores the rating system and ignores my whitelist. The spam portion is operating just fine. I currently have the anti-spam component disabled as my CEO is about to behead me for all the false positives from business associates, lawyers etc.....

Anyone else experience this issue?

You could just re-enable it and turn it way down (make it "Less Aggressive") in the settings.

But that is the problem. If the email is marked as phishing, it gives it a rating of zero and it ignores my whitelist. I already have it set at 95. The scale is 1 to 100 so the rating is bypassed. Tech support says this will be fixed in the next release......whenever that is????? I have had to turn it off becuase it was tagging a lot of valid email and my CEO was pressuring me for a fix. I have been very happy with AVG till now. This is software that I am paying for and to be told to wait till the next release with no time frame is unacceptable!

Luckily AVG usually puts out updates every few weeks so it probably won't be long.
