Kerio Connect >8.1.0 (plugin available?)

Hello there!

Kerio announced that they remove support for external antiviruses. We currently use AVG Email Server Edition with Kerio Connect. They released SDK for plugin developers that can add support for 3rd party antiviruses. Are there any plans to develop plugin for Kerio products? Or is there that plugin available? Otherwise we must move to other antivirus product.

Thank you very much for reply!

Regards,
Jan Kuchař

I haven't heard of any plans. I would contact AVG directly to be sure, if I were you, but I doubt it.

I've done it. Reply is that there are no plans on developing plugin for Kerio. For now it means no support for Kerio products.

Original message (in Czech language):
Dobrý den,
Kerio oznámilo, že od verze 8.1.0 přestávají podporovat externí antivirové programy. Současně s touto anoncí uvolnili i SDK pro vývoj pluginů, která umožní využívat antiviry 3. stran.

Je třeba čekat s upgradem na Kerio 8.1.0? Je v plánu tento plugin vyvinout? Či je (volitelnou) součástí AVG nebo někde ke stažení? Je třeba upgrade na AVG 2013?

Děkuji moc!

If you use an external antivirus for securing Kerio products, you will be allowed to use it after the upgrade temporarily. Once you update to a new version, you will not be able to change the external antivirus program.

What in the world?! How can they control what external antivirus program you use?

When new receives e-mail it is encrypted (in case of encrypted connection) passed to AV and result is processed by Kerio. It does not work like on workstation (listening what is going round on network card) - that's it! ;-)

...and now it is based on plugins with specified API. It doesn't look so complicated, maybe someday, someone will take his time to implement that few lines of code (example for ClamAV)...
