AVG Warnings: Adwares

Postby jakkihm » Thu Jun 19, 2008 4:01 am

Hi !

Every time I do a computer scan with my antivirus AVG 8.0 Free Edition it keeps giving me a long list of potential malwares. The warnings look typically like this :

Object Name: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{000001-C003-4ADF-9142-7CB1D85DEE6F1}.
Detection Name: Found Adware.Isearch / Trojan.ZMark.a / Adware.Generic / etc.
Object Type: Registry key
SDK Type: Core
Result: Potentially dangerous object

All warnings target at IE7 ActiveX Compatibility. However AVG doesn't mark them as threats.
The antispywares that I have (A Squared, SpyBot-SD, Windows Defender) do not signal anything.
I'm really surprised by those results as I almost never use IE7 and I do not surf on suspicious web sites.

I'd like to understand what those warnings are about and how can I prevent them.

Thanks very much for your help !

Google the various messages you're getting. If they're just warnings then it's probably not serious.
